PM Modi's Birthday: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, led by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), completed its first 100 days on September 17, marking the third term in office for Modi. This milestone coincides with his 74th birthday, and ministries have been showcasing their achievements during this period.
Major Infrastructure Push
In its first 100 days, the government has greenlit several major infrastructure projects worth Rs.3 lakh crore. Key initiatives include:- Linking 25,000 unconnected villages with road networks.
- Approval for the Wadhawan Mega Port in Maharashtra, aRs.76,200 crore project, set to become one of the world’s top 10 ports.
Support for Farmers
The government has focused heavily on agricultural reforms:- Increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif crops.
- Distribution of Rs.20,000 crore to 9.3 crore farmers through the 17th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
- So far, Rs.3 lakh crore has been distributed to over 12 crore farmers.
Boosting Road Connectivity
Under the Prime Minister's Rural Roads Scheme-4 (PMGSY-IV), the government has approved the construction of 62,500 km of roads and bridges. An investment of Rs.50,600 crore has been earmarked to strengthen India’s road network, including eight National High-Speed Road Corridor Projects.Reforms in the Legal System
Three new criminal laws will replace colonial-era laws starting from July 1, 2024. These are:- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (replacing IPC).
- Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 (replacing CrPC).
- Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023 (replacing the Indian Evidence Act).
Economic Initiatives
The government has made key economic reforms including:- Abolishing angel tax and reducing corporate tax.
- Setting up a Rs. 1000 crore venture capital fund for space sector startups.
Employment and Skill Development
A package worth Rs.2 lakh crore has been announced for job creation and skill development, aiming to impact 41 million youth over five years. This includes:- Internships for 1 crore youth.
- Training for 20 lakh youth.
- 1,000 industrial training institutes to be upgraded.
