Day 13 at Paris Olympics: Chopra’s Final, Hockey Bronze, and Wrestling

Update: 2024-08-08 06:16 GMT
Day 13 at the Paris Olympics promises to be pivotal for India as Tokyo gold medalist Neeraj Chopra competes in the men’s javelin throw final. Chopra secured his place in the final with an impressive 89.34m throw on his first attempt, marking his season's best and surpassing all competitors in the qualification round. With a chance to become only the fifth man in Olympic javelin history to defend his title, Chopra could also make history as the first Indian to win multiple gold medals in individual events if he repeats his Tokyo success in Paris.

India’s Hockey Bronze Medal Match

The Indian men’s hockey team will compete for a bronze medal after losing 2-3 to Germany in the semi-finals on Tuesday. Despite a strong effort from Harmanpreet Singh and his team, they came up short. India will now play against Spain in their quest to win bronze for the second consecutive Olympics.

Wrestling Matches and Challenges

Following a tough day in wrestling, with Vinesh Phogat's disqualification from the gold medal match, other Indian wrestlers will be back in action on Thursday. Aman Sehrawat and Anshu Malik will begin their campaigns in the round of 16 matches of their respective weight classes.

Golf Representation

Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar will represent India in the women’s individual stroke play round 2 of the golf event.
