India-Myanmar Relation: 283 Indian citizens trapped in Myanmar have been rescued and brought back to India who were forced to commit cybercrime by luring them with lucrative jobs. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that the Indian embassies in Myanmar and Thailand, in coordination with the local authorities, have ensured the safe return of Indian citizens on Monday through an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft from Mae Sot, Thailand. The ministry said that India is continuously making efforts for the release and repatriation of its citizens who were taken to various South-East Asian countries including Myanmar by making fake offers of lucrative jobs. The spokesperson said that the serious internet gambling and telecom fraud incidents that have occurred in the Thailand-Myanmar border area at present have caused harm to the safety of lives and property of the citizens of the relevant countries including China and Thailand and affected the normal movement and cooperation of countries in the region.
