Noida International Airport inaugurated on March 28. Commercial flights likely to begin between mid April and May 2026 after approvals.
The first phase of Noida International Airport was launched on March 28, with commercial flight operations expected to begin between mid April and May 2026.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, will be inaugurating the greenfield airport in Jewar on Saturday. Officials said the airport is physically ready but commercial services will start only after final approvals, including tariff clearance and airline scheduling.
The airport has already secured its aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, a key requirement for operations. Airports usually take 45 days to two months after licensing to complete coordination with airlines, ground handlers, and other stakeholders before starting passenger services.
The Noida International Airport, assigned the IATA code DXN, is being developed as an alternative aviation hub for the Delhi NCR region to reduce congestion at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Spread across over 1,300 hectares, the first phase includes one runway and a terminal with a capacity to handle around 12 million passengers annually. In its final phase, the airport is planned to have up to five runways and a capacity of 70 million passengers per year by 2040.
Officials said operations will begin with limited domestic flights during daytime hours in the initial phase. Full scale domestic and international services will be introduced in stages. International operations are expected to begin later in 2026 after initial operations stabilise.
