C.R. Patil, Mohan Yadav Review Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 2.0 Progress in Madhya Pradesh
Union Minister C.R. Patil and MP CM Mohan Yadav reviewed progress of Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 2.0 with district collectors and divisional commissioners.
Union Minister for Jal Shakti C. R. Patil and Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, held a review meeting on the implementation of Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 2.0 with district collectors and divisional commissioners of the state.
The meeting was organised by the National Water Mission under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development and Labour Prahlad Singh Patel.
Senior officials present included V. L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, and Archana Verma, Additional Secretary and Managing Director of the National Water Mission. Officials from the state government also attended the meeting, including Rajesh Kumar Rajoura, Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department, Deepali Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Sanjay Dubey from the Urban Development and Housing Department, and P. Narhari, Principal Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department.
During the meeting, district collectors of Khandwa, Rajgarh, and Indore presented district level progress and future action plans for the implementation of JSJB 2.0. The presentations highlighted community participation in groundwater recharge, river rejuvenation, and water conservation activities.
Under Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 1.0, Madhya Pradesh ranked fourth nationally. Khandwa district ranked first among districts across the country in water conservation initiatives.
Officials also highlighted water conservation activities in forest areas and the state government’s Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, which focuses on public participation to conserve water sources, rejuvenate rivers, and strengthen local water bodies across the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reiterated the state government’s commitment to water conservation and said Madhya Pradesh will continue to support national efforts to protect water resources. He said the state government will promote public participation in water conservation and river rejuvenation through campaigns such as the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan.
Addressing the district collectors and divisional commissioners, Union Minister C. R. Patil said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative has developed into a nationwide movement linking water conservation with public participation.
He said the experience of districts such as Khandwa shows that strong community participation can produce effective results in water conservation and river rejuvenation.
Patil also referred to initiatives such as the Karmabhoomi Se Matribhoomi Abhiyan, under which members of the business community from Surat and other parts of Gujarat have supported water conservation work in their native regions.
He said resources have been allocated under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act for water conservation activities and urged districts to use these funds effectively before the monsoon season.
Patil also expressed confidence that Madhya Pradesh will strengthen its efforts under Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 2.0 and continue to set an example in water conservation and sustainable water management through community participation.
