After the verdict, Arvind Kejriwal became emotional and stated that the case against him was fabricated, aimed at tarnishing his and his party's image. Kejriwal described it as the biggest political conspiracy hatched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and said that many leaders from his party were jailed, which is a matter of concern for democracy. He stressed the need for the public to pay attention and focus on the country's real issues, such as inflation, unemployment, and pollution.

The entire case began with the Delhi Excise Policy 2022-23, in which the CBI and ED filed charges of money laundering and fraud. Several leaders were jailed in this case. The court clearly stated that concrete evidence is necessary to accuse constitutional officials; a case cannot be built on mere claims.

First, the court acquitted former Excise Department Commissioner Kuldeep Singh. Subsequently, Manish Sisodia and finally Arvind Kejriwal were granted relief.

Summary

The court described the investigating agency's evidence as weak and insufficient and pointed out several flaws in the charge sheet. Following this decision, the investigating agency has indicated it will challenge it in the High Court.
