Impeachment Motion Against Chief Election Commissioner Rejected by Parliament; 193 MPs Had Signed to Seek His Removal

The impeachment motion filed against the Chief Election Commissioner has been rejected by Parliament.

The impeachment motion submitted by 193 MPs against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has been rejected. The Chairman conducted an impartial evaluation of all aspects of the motion. Exercising the powers vested under the Judges (Inquiry) Act, he rejected the motion. Consequently, the Chief Election Commissioner's tenure remains secure.

This motion was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on March 12. It bore the signatures of a total of 193 Members of Parliament (MPs), including 63 members of the Rajya Sabha. The objective of this motion was to remove CEC Gyanesh Kumar from his office.
