Viral: Many people around the world keep dogs, cats, or other animals as a hobby, but it's rare to see their pet become rich. Yes, one such case in China is making headlines these days, surprising everyone. In fact, a man in central China found a large amount of gold in the stomach of a duck while killing it. This strange discovery not only surprised him but also made him rich instantly.

This man, Liu, is from Longhui County in Hunan Province. Last February, he found gold particles in the stomach of one of his pet ducks. According to a report by the media outlet Xinwenfang, an investigation revealed that the gold Liu found in the duck's stomach weighed approximately 10 grams and was worth approximately 12,000 yuan (US$1,800), or approximately ₹1.65 lakh (approximately ₹1.65 lakh). Liu's father now says this discovery is a sign of good fortune for his family.

Ducks may have swallowed soil containing gold particles

According to a report in the South China Morning Post, Liu said that the ducks, raised outdoors near the riverbank, may have swallowed soil containing gold particles, but their bodies cannot digest gold, so the gold remained in their bodies. Although large or impure pieces of gold can cause problems like intestinal blockage or poisoning in both animals and humans, the gold the duck swallowed was tiny particles that were harmless.

Villagers have found gold before

Liu's discovery isn't unique. He explained that several villagers have found gold in ducks' stomachs before, but none have found as much as he did. However, when the incident went viral on social media, some users questioned its authenticity. The Longhui County Natural Resources Bureau told Jiupai News that further investigation is being conducted by a professional institution to confirm whether the particles are gold.

However, bureau staff stated that such discoveries are possible and added that last year, villagers found more than 10 grams of gold while washing sand along the same river.

Gold mining once took place along the riverbanks

According to reports, the Chenshui River, where the gold was found, was once a hotbed of gold mining. From the 1970s to the 1990s, the river sparked a local gold-mining spree, until the government later banned private gold mining.
