It is reported that the Gujarat government can make a big announcement regarding the Uniform Civil Code today. As by the sources, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi will hold a press conference in which an announcement can be made regarding the UCC committee. It is estimated that there can be 3 to 5 members in this committee.

Committee may be announced today
Before the 2022 Gujarat assembly elections, the BJP had declared its intention to implement the Uniform Civil Code in the state. In 2023, the Law Commission resumed discussions on the subject. It sought new inputs from various stakeholders regarding the implementation. According to a senior government official, the Gujarat government had already announced its intention to implement the Uniform Civil Code in the state.
