Disappointing Outcomes in Shooting and Archery
While Kusale’s success was a highlight, India faced setbacks in other shooting events. Anjum Moudgil and Sift Kaur Samra did not advance past the qualification rounds in the women’s 50m rifle three positions event. In archery, Pravin Jadhav was defeated 0-6 by China’s Wenchao Kao in the men's individual Round of 32, resulting in his elimination from the competition.
Boxing and Athletics Struggles
In boxing, Nikhat Zareen was knocked out in the women's 50kg Round of 16, losing to China's Wu Yu. The athletics arena also saw underwhelming performances.
In the men’s 20km race walk final, Vikash finished 20th, Paramjeet was 37th, and Akshdeep did not complete the race. Priyanka Goswami fared similarly in the women’s 20km race walk final, finishing 41st with a time of 1:39.55.
Hockey and Sailing Updates
The Indian men’s hockey team faced a surprising defeat, losing 1-2 to Belgium in Pool B. In sailing, Vishnu Saravanan ended the day in 25th place after the first two races in the men’s dinghy. In contrast, Nethra Kumanan had a strong start, ranking 6th after the first race in the women’s dinghy.
