Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate Police has Dismantles Drug Trafficking Network; 1,920 Arrested in 3 Years
Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh stated that the Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate Police has registered 1,681 cases under narcotics-related laws between January 1, 2023, and January 31, 2026.
The Gautam Buddha Nagar Police has dismantled the networks of drug traffickers by arresting 1,920 individuals involved in narcotics smuggling over the last three years. The police have seized large quantities of illicit substances—including 'ganja' (marijuana), 'charas' (hashish), and MDMA—originating from states such as Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha. The Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate Police is consistently dismantling networks of narcotics traffickers. The police are tightening their noose around individuals who smuggle *ganja* (cannabis) from places such as Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Visakhapatnam, concealing it amidst other goods during transport via trains and trucks before selling it within the NCR region.
Over the past three years, the police force has registered 1,681 cases and put 1,920 narcotics traffickers behind bars. In addition to invoking the Gangster Act against numerous offenders, the police are also proceeding with the process of attaching their assets.
Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh stated that the Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate Police has registered 1,681 cases under narcotics-related laws between January 1, 2023, and January 31, 2026. In connection with these cases, 1,920 accused individuals have been arrested and sent to jail.
From these individuals, approximately 7,270 kilograms of *ganja*, over 9 kilograms of *charas* (hashish), 105 kilograms of MDMA (synthetic drug), 500 grams of 'OG' *ganja*, 9 kilograms of *doda* (poppy husks), 630 grams of narcotic powder, and 885 narcotic pills have been recovered. Additionally, 3,373 e-cigarettes have also been seized.
Additional Police Commissioner Rajiv Narayan Mishra explained that the police have been able to strengthen their grip through continuous surveillance, intelligence gathering, and precise strategic planning. Traffickers are being apprehended by maintaining a strict watch on suspicious activities and taking immediate action the moment information is received.
In several instances, the police have even extended their operations into other states to apprehend the accused. These actions undertaken by the Commissionerate Police serve to dismantle narcotics networks while simultaneously helping to protect the youth from drug addiction.
