Greater Noida Police Successfully Recovered Stolen Goods Worth Lakhs; Thief Arrested
The Greater Noida Police has recovered jewelry more than ₹15 lakh and ammunition from the possession of the accused.
On Sunday, acting on a tip-off from an informer, the police arrested Valmiki Shivkumar near the Nat Ki Madaiya roundabout. Shivkumar is a native of Sadhira (under the Ajgain Police Station jurisdiction in District Unnao) and was currently residing in Delhi. A case of theft has also been registered against him at the Beta-2 Police Station.
The police have recovered jewelry worth approximately ₹15 lakh, a stolen motorcycle, and ammunition from the possession of the accused.
The police have recovered the stolen jewelry, which includes three gold necklaces, four gold stud earrings, one gold ladies' ring, two gold bangles, one silver anklet, two silver stud earrings, and one gold bracelet. Additionally, foreign currency, the motorcycle used in the crime, and ammunition were also recovered.
Vinod Kumar, the officer-in-charge of the Beta-2 Police Station, stated that Shivkumar is a notorious thief. He would work as a domestic servant in households; after conducting reconnaissance for a few days, he would steal valuables and jewelry from the homes before absconding. He used to generate illicit wealth by selling the stolen goods.
Om Pal Singh, a resident of Sector-36, had reported the theft of jewelry worth approximately ₹11 lakh and foreign currency (comprising Indian Rupees, Vietnamese Dong, and US Dollars) amounting to between ₹35,000 and ₹40,000. The accused had hidden the stolen property in the Site-4 area; he was on his way to sell the goods today when the police, acting on the informer's tip-off, arrested him.
