Paris Olympics 2024: Day 10 Schedule – Key Events and Indian Contenders

Update: 2024-08-05 06:05 GMT
Paris Olympics Day 10 :  Novak Djokovic stole the spotlight on Day 9 of the Paris Olympics 2024 by achieving his career Golden Slam. In a thrilling men’s singles final, Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz with scores of 7-6 (3) and 7-6 (2) to clinch the gold medal for Serbia at Roland-Garros. This victory marks a significant milestone in Djokovic’s illustrious career, completing his set of all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold.

Indian Hockey Team Advances

In another highlight, the Indian men’s hockey team delivered a stellar performance against Great Britain. Led by veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who made crucial saves, India secured their place in the semi-finals with a 4-2 victory in a penalty shootout, after a 1-1 tie in regulation time. Head coach Craig Fulton praised the team’s resolute display, emphasizing that their win was a statement of intent. However, Hockey India has filed an official appeal regarding Amit Rohidas’ red card during the quarter-final.

Lakshya Sen's Medal Hopes Remain

India’s hopes for a badminton gold were dashed as Lakshya Sen lost in the semi-finals to defending champion Viktor Axelsen. Sen’s 20-22, 14-21 defeat to the World No.2 means he is out of the gold contention but still has a chance to secure a bronze medal. Sen will face Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia in the bronze medal playoff on Day 10.
