Cloudburst in Kishtwar, Jammu: A cloudburst occurred in Kishtwar district of Jammu division on Thursday. After this, the administration immediately became active and the rescue team left for the spot. The damage is being assessed. Rescue and medical arrangements are being made.

Heavy destruction is feared due to cloudburst in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. The rescue team has left. According to media reports, there was sudden torrential rain (cloudburst) in Chosity area of ​​Kishtwar on Thursday. So far the intensity of the rain and the information about anyone being injured or casualties is not clear.  

Fear of devastation, 15 dead

The cloudburst occurred in Chashoti village of Paddar. This area is the starting route of Machail Mata temple. Many people had gathered here for the religious pilgrimage. Relief and rescue work is underway. Local people are engaged in helping.

The Machail Mata pilgrimage takes place every year in August. Thousands of devotees come to it. It will run from 25 July to 5 September. This route is 210 km long from Jammu to Kishtwar and in this, vehicles can go on the 19.5 km road from Paddar to Chashoti. This created flood-like conditions. So far 15 people have died. This figure may increase.

Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh gave information on social media platform X. He said that he got the information from Jammu and Kashmir leader and local MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma. A major cloudburst has occurred in Chosity area of Kishtwar, which is likely to cause heavy damage and injuries. The administration has immediately become active and the rescue team has left for the spot. The damage is being assessed and medical arrangements are being made in addition to the necessary rescue.

Paddar-Nagseni MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma said, "We do not have any numbers or data yet, but there is a possibility of heavy damage there. At the moment we do not have any numbers or data.

Administration in alert mode

In view of the possibility of flooding in many villages, the administration has come into alert mode. Administrative teams have gone from village to village and appealed to the people to stay away from rivers and streams. Four days ago also a cloudburst had occurred in

Pader, due to which water came with a strong flow in the drain of Sajar area. Due to this, the water level of Chenab river also increased. Now the administration is keeping an eye on the situation and is preparing for rescue.
