Congress furious over BJP MPs' statement on SC - said, ‘party is doing damage control'
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh questioned the lack of action against Dubey and Sharma, members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The Congress on Sunday rejected BJP President JP Nadda's clarification as "damage control", rejecting the attempt to distance itself from the controversial remarks of BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma on the Supreme Court. The main opposition party said that the comments of Dubey and Sharma were made with the aim of "deliberately" weakening the judiciary. On Saturday, Dubey had targeted Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, calling him “responsible for all the civil wars in the country”. He had also put up a cryptic post on X, saying that if the Supreme Court is to make laws, Parliament should be shut down. His attack on the Supreme Court comes at a time when the court has set a deadline for the President to take a decision on bills sent by governors and questioned some provisions of the amended Waqf Act.
