Delhi gets new police Commissioner day after attack on CM Rekha Gupta

Delhi Gets New Police Commissioner:  The national capital police have got its full time Police Commissioner. Senior Indian Police Service officer Satish Golcha has been made the new Police Commissioner today on Thursday. Earlier, SBK Singh was made the Police Commissioner, but he could hold the post of Commissioner for only 20 days. He was removed within 30 hours of the attack on CM Rekha Gupta. 1992 batch IPS Golcha has replaced SBK Singh, who took additional charge as Commissioner after his predecessor Sanjay Arora retired on 31 July. He assumed this charge on May 1, 2024 last year, has been appointed as the Commissioner of Police of Delhi from the date of assuming charge till further orders. SBK Singh was made Commissioner on 31 July

According to an order issued by the Home Ministry today, senior IPS officer Satish Golcha has been appointed as the 26th Commissioner of Delhi Police. 1992 batch IPS Golcha has replaced SBK Singh, who took over the additional charge of Commissioner after his predecessor Sanjay Arora retired on 31 July. Earlier, Golcha has worked on many important posts in Delhi Police including Special Police Commissioner (Law and Order), Special Commissioner (Intelligence) and Director General of Police (DGP) of Arunachal Pradesh. He has also served as DCP and Joint CP in Delhi Police.

SBK Singh replaced Sanjay Arora

However on 31 July 2025, the Union Home Ministry had appointed IPS SBK Singh as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police. He is a 1988 batch officer and was given the additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner. SBK Singh has been made the new Commissioner of Delhi Police in place of Sanjay Arora, who retired today on 31 July. SBK Singh was working as Director General of Home Guards in Delhi while holding the additional charge of Police Commissioner. Earlier, Sanjay Arora, a 1988 batch IPS of Tamil Nadu cadre, was made the Commissioner of Delhi Police on August 1, 2022, replacing Rakesh Asthana.
