BAPS Bhagwati Diksha: Grand 'Bhagwati Diksha Festival' concluded with great reverence at the sacred residence of Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual head of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. On this historic occasion, 33 young, well-educated devotees were conferred saint initiation by the grace of Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj. These 33 young men had already received initiation two years ago.
Inspiring example for society
The 33 young men who participated in the initiation ceremony have very rich physical and educational backgrounds. They include 13 engineers, 11 graduates, 3 postgraduates, 1 doctorate, 1 architect, and 4 young people with other higher education. These newly initiated saints include four young Indian expatriates raised in Canada. They have embraced the tradition of great renunciation inherent in Indian culture by renouncing their bright careers and material comforts. The dedication of these young people sets an inspiring example for society in today's materialistic age.
Initiation with Vedic Mahapuja
The initiation ceremony began with Vedic Mahapuja at 6 a.m. today. As part of the initiation ceremony, senior saints adorned the newly initiated with a kanthi, upvastra, and taga, and prayed while holding sandalwood paste and a stick in both hands. Following this, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj blessed the newly initiated saints by reciting the Guru Mantra, "Aksharam Aham Purushottam Dashausmi."
29 Youths Initiated into Parshadi
It is important to note that two days ago, Mahant Swami Maharaj initiated 29 young people into Parshadi. With today's initiation, a total of 352 young people have been initiated with the blessings of His Holiness Mahan Swami Maharaj. With this, the total number of saints in the BAPS organization has reached 1234. These highly educated saints of the BAPS organization, recognized by the United Nations (UN), devote their entire lives to service and devotion, following the orders of their Guru, without taking a single day off or receiving any salary.
Service of Humanity
These saints make a significant contribution to building a society that is virtuous, values-based, and spiritually conscious. Furthermore, whether it is responding to global disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, the Ukraine-Russia war, or working towards de-addiction and environmental protection in society—under the leadership of these saints, the BAPS organization has contributed to the service of humanity globally. The remarkable dedication of these young saints clearly demonstrates that the values of Sanatan Dharma are still alive today.
