Kerala Rain Alert: IMD Issues Yellow Warning in 5 Districts, Sea Travel Advisory Issued
IMD issues yellow alert in five Kerala districts amid heavy rain forecast; sea warning issued as winds may gust up to 60 kmph.
Heavy rains are expected in parts of Kerala, with the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert in five districts on Friday.
A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts due to the possibility of widespread rain and isolated heavy rain, the department said.
A yellow alert has also been issued in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts for Saturday. The Meteorological Department has announced that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rain.
Authorities have warned people not to venture into the sea off the Kerala Lakshadweep coast on Friday. Winds are expected to gust up to 60 kmph. A thunderstorm warning has also been issued.
The Meteorological Department said the cyclone in the Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into a low pressure area, which will cause rain in Kerala under its influence.
