Police stopped farmers going to Delhi, internet service closed in Ambala

Kisan Andolan: In view of the farmers' movement, Haryana has banned mobile internet and sending multiple SMS simultaneously in many villages of Ambala district from December 6 to December 9. Internet service will remain closed from today till December 9. Meanwhile regarding this order, has been issued by the state government. While large number of farmers from Punjab and Haryana have set out on foot march to march to Delhi.

Atmosphere heated due to farmers' march to Delhi

There is a gathering of farmers around Shambhu border. Now in view of the farmers' movement, internet services have been closed in many areas around Shambhu border in Ambala district. Even though Internet service will remain closed from today.  However, Internet service will remain closed in Ambala's Dangdehri, Lohgarh, Manakpur, Dadiana, Bari Ghel, Lehrs, Kalu Majra, Devi Nagar, Saddopur, Sultanpur and Kakru. Mobile internet, sending multiple SMS simultaneously has been banned.

Demonstration for MSP guarantee

Farmers are marching to put pressure on the Center over some demands including legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. A large number of security personnel have been deployed on the Haryana border. The Ambala district administration has issued an order under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS). Under this section, any unlawful assembly of five or more persons is prohibited in the district.

Schools closed in Ambala

Ambala District Education Officer Suresh Kumar said that government and private schools will remain closed on Friday. Multi-layered barricades have already been installed at Shambhu border point - Rajpura (Punjab)-Ambala (Haryana) on National Highway-44. Arrangements have also been made for water cannons at Shambhu border. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher called the 101 farmers who started the march as 'marjivda' (people who are ready to sacrifice their lives for a cause). Pandher said that the march will be taken out in a "peaceful manner". He criticized the Haryana administration for banning the march on foot. He said on Thursday that the farmers will not take any tractor-trolley with them.

What are their demands

Under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, farmers had earlier announced to march to Delhi on foot in support of their demands. Their demands include legal guarantee of minimum support price of crops and many other demands. They have been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 after security forces stopped them from marching towards Delhi.

Meanwhile, SKM leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal continued his fast unto death at Khanauri border point. Apart from MSP, farmers are demanding loan waiver, pension for farmers and farm labourers and no increase in electricity rates. They are also demanding "justice" for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence, restoration of the Land Acquisition Act 2013 and compensation for the families of farmers killed during the previous agitation in 2020-21.
