Priyanka Gandhi Sworn in as Member of Parliament, Follows Brother Rahul’s Tradition
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, marking her debut in Parliament.
On Thursday, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took a significant step in her political journey by being sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha. This moment marked her debut in the Parliament, and she took the oath while holding a copy of the Indian Constitution. This gesture is symbolic and aligns with her brother, Rahul Gandhi’s practice. Rahul Gandhi, an MP from Wayanad, is often seen carrying a red-colored copy of the Constitution at his rallies, a part of his movement to "protect the Constitution" from the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Priyanka Gandhi’s Electoral Victory
Priyanka Gandhi’s journey into Parliament began with her victory in the Wayanad bypoll. She won the seat with an impressive margin of 4,10,931 votes in the bypoll held recently. The bypoll took place alongside the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections of 2024Priyanka's win came in a three-way contest between herself, BJP's Navya Haridas, and Sathyan Mokeri of the Communist Party of India (CPI). Although Wayanad has historically been a Congress stronghold, the election was fiercely contested, with Priyanka Gandhi ultimately securing the victory.#WATCH | Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra takes oath as Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha (Video source: Sansad TV/YouTube) pic.twitter.com/eaLJzpTY2y
