Cultural programs and a National Unity Day parade are being organized this year. Since Modi first became Prime Minister in 2014, Patel's birth anniversary has been celebrated as National Unity Day every year on October 31st. He then proceeded to a nearby venue, where he administered the "Pledge of Unity" to those present.
