Big Setback For Mamata: The Supreme Court has given another big blow to the Mamata Banerjee government regarding the teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal. The court has upheld the decision of the Calcutta High Court to cancel the recruitment of 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff. The court considered it to be related to corruption and fraud and declared these appointments completely illegal. The matter came to light when some appointments came under controversy and were later challenged in the court. Salary demanded back from the recruited staff; merit list will be prepared again. Disabled candidates will be given relief on humanitarian grounds, but other candidates will have to go through the selection process again.
