Lok Sabha Election 2024: Changes coming after 3:00 PM announcement

Today at 3:00 PM, the Election Commission will reveal the dates for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. Following this announcement, the Model Code of Conduct will be enforced. The country is preparing for the 18th Lok Sabha elections, which are expected to occur in seven or eight phases. The Election Commission has confirmed that the election dates will be disclosed today at 3 PM.

Changes Expected after the Announcement

1. Election campaigns will halt 48 hours before voting.
2. Parties must inform local police before organizing political rallies or meetings.
3. Parties cannot hold meetings or rallies deliberately at the same venue as another party's event.
4. Police will confirm rally routes.
5. Election-related activities are prohibited at religious places.
6. Parties or candidates cannot make derogatory remarks about another candidate's private life.
7. Permission is required for using loudspeakers during meetings.

Special Rules for the Ruling Party

The ruling party is not allowed to misuse government resources like properties, personnel, airports, railways, etc., for political purposes. Government vehicles cannot be used for campaign purposes either. Each state has its regulations regarding alcohol possession. For instance, in Delhi, only 1 liter of alcohol is permitted. In Uttar Pradesh, individuals can keep up to six liters of alcohol at home or in their business premises. Similarly, in Goa, one can store 18 bottles of country liquor and 24 bottles of beer at home. Moreover, carrying cash exceeding 2 lakhs requires detailed documentation and a valid explanation. Violations of laws, including those related to alcohol or the Indian Penal Code, can lead to legal consequences imposed by the Election Commission.
